Mopeka TankCheck 앱 리뷰

Works Well Enough; Could Be Better

First off, I’m pleased with the overall performance of the Mopeka sensor products. I picked up a pair of Pro Plus sensors, plus a WiFi bridge, to monitor my home’s two LP tanks remotely. They do a good job of that via this app. However, that being said, the app is pretty basic, and I can only get the sensors to pair to one of my devices at a time. Despite trying to log in to my account on a second device, it doesn’t see the sensors. Another gripe is that I can’t for the life of me reach Mopeka customer support. I opened a ticket with them over two months ago, and still no reply. Is anyone even home there?? I would love to see some quality-of-life improvements to the app: 1) Multi-device support 2) iPad landscape view (currently it’s locked to portrait only) 3) More customizable alerts 4) Ability to track and chart gas usage over time (e.g., by day, week, month, season, etc.) 5) Dark mode Hopefully the folks at Mopeka are still around and see this. If y’all do, please reply to ticket 10806 that I opened Jan 9th, 2025 which has so far been totally ignored. Thanks.

I guess I’ll have to go buy a gauge🤷‍♂️

I had such high hopes. My wife bought these, obviously taking a cheaper route. App worked for 1 day hasn’t worked for the last 3 days. Can’t solely depend on this app.

Constant notifications

I have the app set to be notified if the bottle gets below 20% and the notification frequency set to once a day. The longest it will let you set the check interval is 30 seconds. No matter what I do the app sends notifications every 30 seconds one a bottle is below the 20% level which is extremely annoying. Other than that it works as it should. I saw the other reviews stating the same but was hoping they had fixed it. Should have noticed they have not done and update on this app in over a year. They clearly know there is a problem and just don’t care enough to fix it.

Constant Notification Issues

I have been using these sensors for about 6-7 months now and from the start I have had issues regarding notifications with this app. More specifically the notification frequency which no matter what I do defaults back to the “every 12 hours” setting, and more annoyingly doesn’t even abide by this and instead sends constant notifications when I am within range on my sensors. Not long after purchasing them I contacted support and they advised me to use their other “pro” app to update my sensors firmware to resolve this yet the issue persisted. So a couple weeks ago I once again reached out to support and informed them I was still experiencing the SAME issues at which time they decided to replace both my sensors. After a little over a week with the new sensors this issue still persists pointing to the fault lying within the app itself. While this is by no means affects the overall functionality of the sensors as far as I can tell, it is incredibly frustrating not to mention annoying to get constant notifications. Disabling them would defeat the purpose of having them in the first place.

Won’t work after new batteries

The sensors worked fine until I installed new batteries. After the installation the sensors will not reconnect with my iPhone 15

Signal poor

Our 250gal horizontal tank is about 30 ft away from our house but is downhill about15 ft. The signal from the unit is to periodically and will give a reading of 100%. You have to be careful

Works good, but…

Works good and it’s a convenient way to monitor usage. But, it loses connection often. Have to delete and re-download the app on a regular basis.

Works great

Works very well, I have 30lbs tanks in my toy hauler with 20lbs tanks when the 30’s run dry. Been using for more than a year and had to replace one battery in one sensor. I check once a week instead of letting the app run in the background. It will drain your battery on your cell. I also purchased the button gauge for dual tanks. Would recommend this for RV living.

Buggy app. Eats through iPhone battery like nothing else

Reported this a year ago, still not fixed. If you leave this app in the background it’ll eat through battery faster than any other app, even FB. Literally look at battery usage under settings and this is responsible for 40% of battery usage. Hard to trust a an app developer that can’t fix such a massive bug. Only fix is to force close the app after every time you use it…. Wifi bridge also often seems flaky. Like it won’t update tank levels for weeks. It makes me think it really only ever updates over Bluetooth and the wifi bridges are pointless.

95% there

Excellent product and marginal app. The app would be excellent, if it had a trend of the level versus date

Problem with app or sensor?

I can’t get the tank sensor (using this app) to connect to any device (I’ve tried 3 different Apple products and it’s a no on each device). So I’M sending the who thing back. Nice idea to keep track of how much propane you have left in tank, but for $60.00 and no go on syncing with device, I just want my money back.

Battery killer

The app works well enough but it absolutely destroys your battery life.

Works but eats battery in background

The app works well for what it’s for but has a background battery drain but that’ll eat your battery up quick. Please fix this!

No Tech support

I have bought two of these and both times they will not work. I have returned them. Amazon said they will investigate and take it off to do their platform. I have emailed them twice and called her office twice. Not one person contacted me. Buyer beware

I like the ability to view my tanks

I have 3 propane tanks on my Lance Travel Trailer and I love the ability to view the levels on all … it’s 3 stars because the app does not have dark mode and when I open it at night I’m blinded by the white background.

GARBAGE

This product is absolute garbage. Serious piece of junk. The app seems to be decently designed….the ACTUAL product is AWFUL.

Works pretty well but the app has at least one bug and no ability to update sensor firmware

I’ve had a support ticket open for over a month with no reply: is there a firmware update for the tank sensors? The app offers a firmware file upload capability but no way to check or download firmware files, and none are on the Website. More troublesome is that the app shows 0% propane remaining on my tank which has 3.6cm remaining on a 20lb tank. If you switch the app to display from percent remaining to centimeters remaining, the correct value displays. There is a bug in how they are calculating percent remaining. I opened a ticket on it and it remains to be seen whether they will acknowledge it and address the bug or not. Overall, I’m happy with the sensors but a little polish on the rough edges would make this solution go from imperfect to outstanding. You’re almost there!

Best thing for tank monitoring

The only thing I would like to see with the app is allowing it to rotate when the iPad is rotated. I use it for monitoring my propane in my RV and the big tanks at home. I mainly use my iPad in the horizontal position and the app doesn’t rotate. Easy fix for the app.

Buyer beware (as of Mar 2023)

The app still does not allow one to set a high alert. So if you hope to use this for your RV gray tank you will not be able to get a notification when your tank exceeds 80% (for example). The only option is for a tank below X% (helpful for fresh water and propane). Also, the maximum interval for checking the tank level is every 30 seconds. Battery life could likely be prolonged if the app allowed for longer intervals (30 min, 60 min). The user can then decide if knowing their gray tank level every 3 or 30 seconds is actually necessary. I’m hopeful for these devices, but just installed today so time will tell how well they work. Three stars for the app until at a minimum the high level alert is available.

Total JUNK !

This is total junk! Does not work

Eats through iPhone battery

The background refresh is excessive. It kills my iPhone battery if I don’t manually close the app when I’m done. Turning off background app refresh does not change anything. Notification setting on the sensors are 12 hours. So it should check every 12 hours right? Not every minute or whatever it’s doing to kill my phone battery. Besides that issue, the rest of it works great. Happy to be able to see my sensors and tank levels from inside the trailer. They have been solid all year. Battery in the sensors are just now getting low. So 9 months is pretty good.

Broken links

The app has dead-end links to error pages. After a year+ of using the pro sensors, one would think this issue would be fixed by now. And the “new”website is a nightmare on iDevices to navigate.

Poor performance

I have purchased 2 of these systems for my dual 30lb tank 5th wheel. They worked fine for a month or two, then stopped functioning. My first one work ok for about a year then died. I purchased an entire new system less than a year ago and it has been non-functional for the last 5 months. Very disappointed with this product!!

No 5lb option, but manual settings do work.

Overall, the system works great when using the app. It was super quick and easy to set up and it’s super accurate. My main gripe with the system was that there isn’t a 5lb option to select (the lowest is 20lb.) I have a small teardrop camper with a mounted 5lb tank and i almost returned the item until realized that you can set the tank’s height using the “arbitrary” mode, which worked great. I would love them to add a actual 5lb setting within the app. Should be a given.

Every man needs this

So far so good. This is exactly what my life was missing and I guarantee everyone with propane tanks will appreciate this as a gift. If I can suggest anything it would be to develop an app for the Apple Watch.

Looses Signal All the Time. Eats Batteries

Can’t keep the Bluetooth connected. Have 2 sensors on two tanks, one stays connected, the other doesn’t. Replaced batteries at 2 months, now indicating they need replacing again 3 weeks later. Really frustrating.

Reliably works for me

This makes things to much easier. In more than a year now it seems to be accurate and never let us done. We use the rubber spacer for the foot of the 30lbs bottles and also have it integrated with RV whisper. Definitely made our life quite a bit easier and so far was always on point.

Keeps getting better

I’ve used these sensors for almost two years and had some issues, but they were usually fixed quickly. I use dialectic grease, from the auto parts store, on the sensors with two 30lb tanks and they work great.

Whole system inconsistent

Bought this hoping to better track my levels and ended up with expensive clutter. Both the receiver and the app shows full all the time. Used the spacers and ensured the sensor was on correctly. I have spent a lot of time removing the 30lb tanks and checking and repairing the sensors only to hang my head in disappointment and dissatisfaction. This is a great concept, just needs to have an agile approach prior to delivery to consumers. Test your products and ensure quality control has proper thresholds with the test mirroring the end users application. Otherwise, more negative reviews and refund requests will continue to come in. Rooting for you and your success.

Works great!

I have two sensors on my two 20 lb tanks on my travel trailer. I followed the simple instructions and they work great. I know how low they are at any time just by checking my app or when I receive a notification on my iPhone.

Crap - Expensive sensors (2). Does not shnc

I purchase two of these sensors for the LPG tanks in my RV. One synced immediately, then lost it’s sync a couple days later. The second one will not sync at all. There’s no help in the documentation. They won’t tell you how to change the batteries - follow this link (that doesn’t exist. Save your money don’t buy this.

Update 2.5.24

UPDATED REVIEW: Subsequent updates have been made and the app is performing as expected. Update 2.5.24 touted “performance improvements”. All it did was kill the app. Opening the app only reveals the logo page. Cannot navigate away from there, nor escape, nor access any sensor, nada. Just the logo.

App works well till it is updated.

Please fix the update process!! I have had to delete app and reinstall twice now due to updates. Last time all sensors lost connection and would not communicate. This time 3 out of four sensors lost connection. Both times had to delete app and reinstall. At least sensor info is stored on account in cloud when app is reloaded.

Re-sync for every App Update?

The product works pretty well. The problem is that now with EVERY app update I have to lift my tanks out of my trailer and re-sync them. What is wrong with this App developer?

Great Sensors , Poor App

Got these a couple years ago and initially worked great. Starting this year though the app keeps forgetting my sensors which is a PITA! Every month or so I have to disassemble my LP tank setup and turn them upside down to access the sensors to re-initialize them with my app. Batteries are fine in both sensors. LED display which I put in the camper works fine.

It does not work

It does not work with Arabic phone language. Give it a separate English language in the settings.

Annoying Pop Up Solicitation

Why do you continue to solicit users to purchase your pro sensors with an annoying blue pop up? After all the money I have spent on this system, including the pro sensors, it is irritating to have these pop ups continue. You claim to have reduced these in the last update. Why not eliminate them entirely?

Not Impressed

I ran out of propane (one tank) while sensors were showing full. Changed batteries then couldn’t get the app. to function. Deleted several times and reloaded. Only the landing page comes up. Called support. They don’t know either, hence the title and two stars which are for support calling me back.

App does not open

App will not open, stuck on Mopeka logo on iPhone 11.

Worked only one season

Worked fine last year (season). Now the app stays on the main Mopeka screen and does nothing. Tried deleting and reinstalling app multiple times. My phone is up to date.

The app keeps forgetting my sensors.

I don’t know what is going on but the app keeps losing my two sensors. It’s a real pain to add them due to being under heavy tanks. Unacceptable.

Ok, but....

I use this on an RV. It seems to work well and reads my tank. However, I was disappointed to find out it will not work without cellular connection. I sometimes boondock where there is no cell reception and all that comes up is a blank white screen. It’s just a Bluetooth connection to my cell phone, why does it need cellular service? Doesn’t make sense. I have other Bluetooth devices that work fine without cellular. Other than that, I like it. Only 3 stars, could have been 5.

App locked up

The app has locked up, screen is frozen tried deleting the app and reinstalling same thing.

Why does it need location services turned on?

This product seems to work well. But... I am disappointed to see that even though this connects through Bluetooth, you MUST have location services turned on for it to work. Why?? What if I’m out deep in the forest with no cell service, it’s not going to work? That’s when I need it most! My ear bud head set doesn’t require location services to connect via Bluetooth, why this? This was just bad programming.

App won’t Load

App updated itself 4 days ago and now just sits on Mopeka logo and never loads. iphone se, ios 13.6.1 Either test your prod releases better or have a web based dashboard as backup please. Useless until fixed.

Overall good but...

Overall this is a good product and app. The sensors work really well for the two tanks I use it on. However... every time the app is updated it loses connection to the two sensors and the WiFi bridge and required me to access the sensors again and go through the repairing process. Wry annoying especially if I don’t have to access the tank for another reason. Kudos for keeping the app updated but PLEASE make the future updates ones that keep persistent sensor pairing.

iOS update killed the app

This worked fine with the two sensors on my camper propane tanks and the app on my iPhone X until the last iOS update. Now I have to resync the sensors but the app does not even see them. I even put in new batteries in the sensors. Still nothing. Tried I button push, six button pushes, nothing happens. Pretty disappointed. Mopeka site online tells you you need to resync them but gives you no help when it doesn’t work.

Update deleted sensors

Latest update deleted sensors that were setup and working! Now the hassle to resync again. Please no more “updates “ like this

Is this update going to kill my sensors like the last one did??

Is this update going to kill my sensors like the last one did?? With absolutely no directions on how to fix it. And the help didn’t work either. I don’t expect I will be doing this update or any other for quite some time!!!
